It’s been a week to remember at Ballina Golf & Sports Club, with three long-time members achieving one of golf’s most elusive milestones—shooting or bettering their age for the first time.
Phil Dowling, aged 72, delivered a superb round of 70, bettering his age by two strokes. Known for his smooth tempo and sharp short game, Phil’s round was a model of consistency and composure.
John Macpherson, 70, matched his age with a steady and confident round. His achievement reflects years of dedication to the game and a deep understanding of the Ballina layout.
Dave McIntosh, 76, also joined the elite club by shooting his age exactly. His round was highlighted by smart course management, earning well-deserved applause from fellow members.
For all three players, this was the first time they’ve reached this rare milestone—an accomplishment that speaks volumes about their skill, longevity, and love for the game. Congratulations to Phil, John, and Dave on a truly memorable week!
