
The Ballina Golf & Sports Club was the place to be this weekend as the Ongmac Classic roared to life under perfect skies and pristine course conditions. With over 220 players teeing off each day, the two-day tournament delivered thrilling competition, standout performances, and a celebration of community spirit.
In the Women’s Division, it was Tash Evans who rose to the occasion, carding a composed 83 (41, 42) to claim the title. Hot on her heels was Maree Willis, whose impressive 79 (40, 39) earned her runner-up honours in a tightly contested leaderboard.
The Men’s Division saw drama right to the final putt, with Scott Williams clinching victory on countback after matching scores with Cooper Walls. Both players posted 79, but Williams’ steady (39, 40) edged out Walls’ (42, 37) in second-round countback.
The excitement didn’t stop there. The Shootout Challenge brought the crowd to its feet, with Sue Johnston taking out the women’s title and Mason Brenton delivering a clutch performance to win the men’s division.
In the Sponsor Challenge, the team from Ballina Beach Resort proved unstoppable, combining for a stellar two-day total of 282 to take home the prize and bragging rights.
